Feeling Gratitude Grow, In Conscious Flow

What does gratitude mean to me?

It’s a choice, a thought, a way of being.

You can’t manipulate it, because it’s authentic.

What makes us grateful is unique to us all.

Yet to live it requires intention, perception, still.

Gratitude can erupt inside unexpectedly, or

Evade your ability to be felt, buried under pressure

Of the stress, hardships and pain of life.

Like all things, it expands when nurtured,

And contracts when left forgotten and unused.

The opportunity to experience gratitude is there

In every breathing moment, dark or light.

I wake up in the morning and I open my eyes.

Do I think of the gift of a new day?

Or does the stream of chatter, of tasks, begin?

I inhale and exhale, like all breathing beings.

It is nothing and everything at the same time.

I give birth, like billions of women before and after

And yet when I hold and behold her, it feels like a miracle.

Life-death, sun-moon, light-dark; all are one creation.

And so, in every moment, I choose.

I look for the gifts and give thanks.

The sunrise. A hummingbird. My beloved’s smile.

Hot Coffee. A journal and pen.

I set my intention and allow myself to feel.

So yeah, I’m feeling gratitude grow, in conscious flow.
