Unencumbered

Imagine if you will, dear reader, a world in which everyone felt free to be as they are, unencumbered. A planet where all human beings were supported to thrive as the unique and one-of-a-kind creations they are. Step back further and broaden your scope to allow all of earth’s inhabitants equality and respect. Where humans behave like the rest of nature and are at peace with themselves.
John Lennon imagined a world where there were no countries or religions. I believe it is possible to have both borders and beliefs when we agree to disagree respectfully. When there is no condemnation from one another. Lennon sang about no possessions, a brotherhood of man. I envision a connected humanity; man, woman, and child, sharing the earth in harmony.
Martin Luther King dreamt that all men, black and white, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I dream of a world that expands the promise further, to include women. I imagine a future where colour is seen as blends of thousands of years of permutations and possibilities so vast as to render identification irrelevant.
I have big, bold dreams. I have visions of unlimited abundance. I believe there is more than enough for everyone if only we have eyes to see and minds to imagine. What kind of world could manifest if each of us took up a torch of light and love and chose to be in service of an evolution, of a revolution? One person—one dreamer— can make a difference.
There have been many who have walked before us to lay the foundation. We need only listen to the whispering of our hearts and then follow in their path. Musicians like John Lennon. Political activists like Martin Luther King. Spiritual messengers like Jesus, the Buddha, and Mother Theresa. People who advocate against corruption and inequality like Mahatma Gandhi.
The question I pose to you, dear reader, is what legacy do you want to leave? What gifts and talents are within your reach? What dreams light up your heart and fill you with joy? You don’t have to be a big, bold dreamer. Your path might be quieter, softer. But together we have the strength to change the status quo that none of us can achieve on our own.
Imagine a world filled with so much love and light, warriors of darkness could not exist. A place where every new being born felt welcomed and supported to be who they were created to be. A world where corruption, greed, malice, and fear were replaced with honesty, generosity, kindness, and love. I wonder, what changes could we all accomplish, unencumbered?
